Diving around Phuket

Shark Point, King Cruiser Wreck and Anemone Reef

Phuket was one of the first dive destinations in Thailand but still has an impressive variety of great diving available and the marine life is truly outstanding.

There are dive sites for all levels of divers and to suit all tastes. Lots of wall dives, pinnacles, rocky outcrops, reefs and wrecks give a fairly big dive menu. Shark Point and Anemone Reef offer colourful soft corals and leopard sharks are often seen here. The King Cruiser Wreck adds another special dive site.

Koh Phi Phi and Hin Bida

The very nearby situated Koh Phi Phi and its surroundings also offers a range of nice dive sites.

Hin Bida Nok, Hin Bida Nai, a new sunken wreck, the underwater mountain of Koh Yung or the cave at the entrance to Maya Bay: there are far more places than we can dive during a short single dive tour.

The scenic impressions at the surface throughout this area are without doubt breathtaking.

Anemone Reef

This pinnacle dive site is completely covered in anemones that gently sway in the currents that sweep over the peaks of the pinnacles.

There are an enormous variety of moray eels – from zebra and spot-face morays to honeycombed yellow-edged, undulated, white mouth and clouded morays. You can also find many lionfishes and bearded scorpion fishes on this site.

The shimmering schools of glassfishes that coat the reef during certain times of the season can hide all kinds of tiny crustaceans, many types of nudibranches and enormous, glistening tiger cowries.

King Cruiser Wreck

King Cruiser was a catamaran-hull passenger-cruiser with 4 decks until she sank on the 4th May 1997 by straying several miles off course and hitting the Anemone Reef.

King Cruiser has large openings which allow access, although with much caution, to the spacious interior. With its multiple decks and spacious open areas, the wreck is providing sheltered living quarters for large numbers of fishes and crabs.

The propellers are the deepest point and they rest about 30 meters deep. The passenger decks are situated between 10 and 20 meters and form the most interesting part of the dive.

To ensure the best visibility and the least current we jump at slack low.

Koh Dock Mai

This small, jungle topped island is located on the way to Shark Point from Phuket and is considered one of the best wall dives in the area.

On three sides, the sheer walls are occupied with creatures and soft corals. The walls drop straight down to the sea floor.

The west side is a gently sloping hard coral reef with an abundance of colorful sea life that decorates it's underwater cliffs.

The east-side of the island is a virtual garden of yellow tube corals and you can explore some of the small caves along the base of the wall.

Shark Point

Shark Point is part of a Marine Sanctuary and is justifiably the most popular of the local dive sites. The dive site is named after the docile Leopard Sharks that are often encountered resting on the sandy seafloor.

The main attraction here, in addition to sharks and vast schools of tropical fishes, are the colorful soft corals and sea fans that decorates all this huge three limestone pinnacles.
